Diverse Food in the Fox River Valley

In honor of Restuarant Week which is happening March 27 – April 4, we are spotlighting some yummy foodie spots for you to start warming up for the best week of food! If you are looking for food that is not the norm or you feel like you want to be a little more cultured, the Elgin area is the best place to satisfy your taste buds needs.

180s (1)Toom Toom Thai: Located in the heart of Downtown Elgin, Toom Toom Thai delivers not only on authentic Thai food but fantastic flavors that will make you keep coming back for more. When you get the chance to go, (not if, when) get the Red Curry. It definitely has a kick but you can ask to have to heat reduced if you so desire. If you want just an appetizer, Toom has the most insanely good pot stickers, I’ve ever had in my life.

Smooth Fox: Think you have to go to the deep South for good soul food? No worries, Smooth Fox has awesome soul food every Sunday! Each new week brings a new menu for you to pick from, the Catfish and Spaghetti dish is my favorite! In true Soul food fashion, the catfish and spaghetti is accompanied by greens, corn bread, and scrumptious peach cobbler.

Dog’s Paw Brewing: Miss out on your corn beef this St Patty’s Day? The friendly staff at Dog’s Paw has 17361816_670028543205051_1776945113114451563_nyour back! I have never been one for corn beef, but this, I will eat happily. The corn beef, cabbage, and roasted potatoes with a horseradish sauce that melts in your mouth creates a fantastic Irish salute that St Patty himself would love.

Las Gorditas De Don Angel #4: A new restaurant to Downtown Elgin has created a ton of buzz with high praise for the traditional Mexican eatery complete with a family atmosphere. They specialize in Goditos that are handmade to perfection. Take your next lunch to Las Gorditas!

114560_bigTokyo Steakhouse II: I love sushi. It will forever be the most delicious type of food I will ever eat. The worst part is driving to get good sushi. That’s why Tokyo Steakhouse II is my choice! The talented hibachi and sushi chefs are internationally trained, have years of experience, and are truly dedicated to the artistry required for the preparation of exquisite Japanese cuisine. Grab a Spicy Tuna roll and a Yummy Yummy roll while you are there. If you prefer your dinner on the cooked side, they also provide hibachi for you to enjoy!

Francesca’s Campagne: Have a hunger for authentic Italian food? With handwritten menus of classic ls (4)Italian favorites and an ambiance of sophisticated comfort, you will feel like you are transported to Italy at Francesca’s. I suggest getting the Lenticchie e Spinaci which is homemade meatballs braised in tomato sauce and herbs served with arugula salad and parmesan cheese. Or if you are looking for dessert, you can’t go wrong with the classic tiramisu.

Make sure you stay tuned for next week’s blog post where we will be covering, even more, restaurants in anticipatation for Restaurant week which is March 27- April 4! Check out all the restaurants participating here!
