Enjoy the sweeter things in the Elgin area
No matter what you sounds good for lunch or dinner, the Elgin area has something to hit the spot. However, what if what you crave is something sweet, chocolate, or just entirely dessert like? We have gathered up a few foodie spots with a more sweet side for you:
Around the Corner Candy: They have a wide range of goodies from you to choose from. Truffles, fudge, candy bars, nostalgic candies, and much more! My favorite is the homemade fudge and the tiramisu truffles!
Delish Cakes: A local favorite continues to get high praise with their delicious cupcakes, cake pops, cakes, and macarons. I usually get the red velvet cupcake but I have recently tried the Oreo Bliss and it totally lives up to its name; blissful.
Piece-of-Cake Bakery: Located in East Dundee, Piece-of-Cake bakery loves the challenge of creating unique custom cakes for all occasions. They offer everything from cakes, cookies, breakfast items, pot pies, and more! I love their coffee cakes for breakfast, lunch, or really anytime.
Herbs Bakery: From old-fashion cake donuts, hand-made Danish, Kringles and the Soft Bavarian German Pretzel Roll, to elegant and fun custom cakes and desserts, what you see there- they create there. Grab a pastry on Thursday for ‘Thrifty Thursday’ where all pastries are 2 for $4!
Alexanders Restaurant: When you walk into Alexander’s the first thing you see is their display case of desserts, all of which look amazing! If you have ever thought about ditching dinner and just loading up on their dessert display…you’re not the only one. I love their Bavarian Chocolate Cream Pie. It’s so delicious and light that you want to eat the whole thing.
Al’s Cafe & Creamery: Al’s has been a part of the community for many years and their malts are the things of legend in the Elgin area. Grab a chocolate malt and put in any add-ins you want to create the malt of your dreams!
Make sure you stay tuned for next week’s blog post where we will be covering, even more, restaurants in anticipation for Restaurant week which is March 27- April 4! Check out all the restaurants participating here!
Hey there! My name is Sarah, and I am the Tourism Promoter and Events Coordinator for the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (it’s a mouthful, I know). I’m a newbie to the Elgin area so I will be telling you first-hand accounts of events and attractions found in Elgin, through my eyes! I’ll share my adventures through videos, photography, and words.
