Bella Hristova, violin

Liszt        Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 (for orchestra)
Mozart   Violin Concerto No. 5
Dvořák   Symphony No. 6

With works by Dvořák and Liszt, and featuring guest violinist, Bulgarian Bella Hristova, these concerts have a distinct Slavic flair. The famous Hungarian Rhapsody has been used in countless Warner Brothers and Disney cartoons. It was the basis for the 1934 song “Ebony Rhapsody” recorded by Duke Ellington and his orchestra, and was featured in the final scene of the 1982 cult classic Atomic Café.  Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 is a superb synthesis of the German classical-romantic form – think Beethoven and Brahms – with a nationalistic style that uses Czech folk tunes. The program also holds the ESO premiere of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, sometimes called the Turkish Concerto for its use of unison chromatic crescendos, and other unique elements. The work will be performed by Bella Hristova: Her Mozart rendition was musically sensitive and exemplary. Her delivery was unpretentious, elegant, and charming throughout.” ClevelandClassical.com
