The New Girl’s Guide to Elgin: Part 3: State Street Market Shops
Christmas is right around the corner: a little more than six weeks to be exact. If you’re anything like me, I do the shopping either a month before or an hour before we open gifts. There is no in between. You could say it’s my super power.
Of course, this type of selective procrastination can be difficult, especially if you live anywhere from 15-30 minutes from a major retail store. Have no fear; I have a solution! For all your last minute gifts that scream personal, I go to State Street Market Shops.
Conveniently located at 701 North State Street in Elgin, this quaint local shop has everything you’ll need. I’m not kidding. They have 30+ unique shops under one roof! You will find something for anyone from their selection of antiques, collectibles, unique gifts, and furniture all at a reasonable price. The whole store is laid out in different “shops,” with each shop having a theme from Halloween, Downton Abbey, Christmas, vintage inspired crafts, Nautical, Tea, and so much more.
State Street Market Shops is not just a place to shop; they also do events! Each month they dedicate events that focus on arts that are open to the public. Be sure to check out their monthly special events, where you can save a bundle or find a new hobby. So not only can you make that gift extra personal, you are shopping locally which supports our local economy and keeps your dollars home for the holidays. What could be better than that? Don’t forget Small Business Saturday is November 26th!
If you don’t know what to get that someone that seems to have everything, go to State Street Market Shops, and you will find something special! The State Street Market Shops will begin their holiday hours November 10th- December 22nd from 10 AM- 5 PM and November 29th- December 24th from 10 AM- 8 PM, Saturdays 10 AM- 5 PM, and Sundays 11AM-5 PM.
Hey there! My name is Sarah, and I am the Tourism Promoter and Events Coordinator for the Elgin Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (it’s a mouthful, I know). I’m a newbie to the Elgin area so I will be telling you first-hand accounts of events and attractions found in Elgin, through my eyes! I’ll share my adventures through videos, photography, and words.
