Judson Seeks Nominations for the 2017 D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award

unnamed(ELGIN, IL – February 7, 2017) Judson University is now seeking nominations for the D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award, which is presented each year to the candidate who has contributed to the greater good in the Fox Valley community by voluntarily serving others’ physical, emotional, intellectual or spiritual needs.

 

The D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award will be given during Judson University’s Community Prayer Breakfast, which will be held on Wednesday, May 10, from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center (1151 N. State St., Elgin).

 

Last year’s recipient, restaurateur Jeff Turner, was honored for his In the Neighborhood Deli in Elgin. Over the years, Turner has organized communitywide meals, including Elgin’s Thanksgiving Community Dinner and the “Have a Heart” community meal around Valentine’s Day. The events for the homeless have served more than 2,000 people annually.

 

Past award recipients have included: Velma Sept, Dr. Risé D. Jones, Mary Rees Freeman, Edward Hunter, Donna Anderson, Nancy Schueneman, Jack and Marlene Shales, Floyd Brown, Murna Hansemann, Dr. Clare Ollayos, and Carl Flaks.

All nominators and nominees are invited to attend the breakfast.

 

General admission tickets are $25. Table sponsorships are also available.

 

Online registration begins Tuesday, March 1.
